ManyChat is a popular tool for automating Instagram DMs, including the "comment a keyword, get the link" replies many creators use. Its price depends on how many people you message each month, so the same plan can cost very different amounts from one month to the next. Paying month to month costs more. ManyChat's page lists higher rates for extra contacts on monthly billing ($0.10, $0.05, $0.025 and $0.004 for the four paid plans), and shows monthly plan prices behind a billing switch. Check the live page for the price in your currency.
What counts as an active contact
ManyChat describes an active contact as a real person you interact with during a monthly billing period. Each person counts once a month, however many messages you exchange. If 800 different people comment your keyword on a reel and get your link by DM, that's 800 active contacts that month. Even on yearly plans, active contacts are counted, and extra ones billed, every month.

At 10,000 active contacts, Business would cost less: $69 plus 2,500 extra contacts at $0.018 ($45), so $114. These are worked examples from the published rates, not quotes. Your bill depends on your plan, your billing period and how many people you actually message.
Ways to keep the cost down
- Choose your plan by your busiest month. Overage on a smaller plan can cost more than the next plan up.
- Use a specific keyword ("comment GUIDE") rather than replying to every comment, so only interested people get a DM and count as contacts.
- Switch off comment automations on old posts once a campaign is over.
- Check your active contacts at the start of each month, before a launch.
When ManyChat is worth it
