How to Increase Reels Views on Instagram (No Fake Apps)

Real ways to get more views on Instagram Reels for free: what Instagram ranks, hooks, Trial Reels, original content, and why free-views apps hurt your account.

In short

  • Instagram has said its biggest signals are watch time, sends per reach (DM shares) and likes per reach.
  • Original reels get recommended to non-followers; accounts that mostly repost stop being recommended.
  • Trial Reels let you test a reel on non-followers before your followers see it.
  • Free views, likes and followers apps bring bots that don't watch, share or buy, and they put your account at risk.

If your reels are stuck at a few hundred views, the answer isn't a views app. It's making reels that people watch to the end and send to a friend, because those are the signals Instagram uses to decide who else should see them. This guide covers what Instagram has said about ranking, the habits that move views, and how to turn those views into money.

What Instagram looks at

In January 2025, Instagram head Adam Mosseri named the three signals that matter most for reaching new people: how much of the reel people watch, how often they send it in DMs (sends per reach), and how often they like it (likes per reach). Sends matter most for reaching people who don't follow you yet.

What each signal means for your next reel

10 ways to get more reel views for free

  1. Hook in the first second. Show the result first (“This is how I lost 4 kg without a gym”), then the steps.
  2. Keep reels for new people short. Under 30 seconds is easier to watch to the end.
  3. Put words on screen. Many people watch on mute.
  4. Post original reels. Your own clips, your voice, your face. Reposting other people's videos limits who sees your account (more below).
  5. Remove other apps' watermarks. Export clean files instead of downloading from another app.
  6. Use Trial Reels to test hooks. Try two openings for the same idea and keep the one that does better.
  7. Ask for a reason to comment. “Comment PLAN and I'll send it to you” gives people a reason, and with Auto DM the link reaches them in seconds.
  8. Reply to comments in the first hour. Conversation tells Instagram people care.
  9. Post on a schedule you can keep. Three good reels a week beats seven rushed ones.
  10. Check Insights after 24 hours. Look at average watch time and shares, not just views, and make more of what works.

Original content gets recommended, reposts don't

In April 2026, Instagram widened its originality rules. Accounts that mostly post reposted or barely edited content stop being recommended to people who don't follow them. Instagram looks at your account over about a month, not one post. Adding a watermark, a small crop or a credit isn't enough; adding your own commentary, voice or a real remix is.

Test before you post: Trial Reels

Trial Reels show a reel to people who don't follow you first. Your followers don't see it unless you share it. You get views, likes, comments and shares after about 24 hours, and you can let Instagram share it with your followers automatically if it does well in the first 72 hours. Choose “Trial” when you post a reel.

Turn views into followers and sales

Views only help you if people take the next step. Give them one: a free download, a product or a call, linked from your bio. When a reel asks people to comment a word, Auto DM sends each of them your link in their DMs, so you don't lose them while you reply by hand.

Frequently asked questions

Why are my reels getting 0 views?

Usually the reel is still processing, it breaks a rule (copyrighted music or reposted content), or your account was restricted. Check Account Status in your settings. If everything is fine, test a stronger first second with Trial Reels.

Is it safe to use free Instagram views apps?

No. They send views from bots or traded accounts, which don't watch or share, and they can break Instagram's terms. Your real reach can drop.

How do I increase likes on Instagram (instagram par like kaise badhaye)?

Make one clear point per reel, start with the result, put words on screen and post your own content. Likes per reach goes up when people who see the reel find it useful or funny, not when you get more empty views.

Do hashtags still help reels?

They help a little with telling Instagram what the reel is about. A clear topic in your caption and on screen matters more than a long list of hashtags.
