In short
- Telegram doesn't pay channel owners for views. You earn from your members.
- The most common way in India is a paid private group: members pay monthly by UPI and get the invite link.
- Telegram's own subscriptions charge in Stars, which convert to cryptocurrency, not rupees.
- Sell notes, guides or calls to your channel, and take sponsored posts once you're big enough.
Telegram is where many Indian creators, teachers and traders keep their most loyal audience. It doesn't pay you for views, but people who join your channel already trust you. These are the ways to earn from them, and the simplest way to start.
5 ways to make money on Telegram
| Way | How it works | Good for |
|---|---|---|

| Telegram Star subscriptions | Telegram's own monthly fee in Stars for a channel invite link | Audiences used to paying in apps |
| Sell products to your channel | Post a link to notes, an ebook or a course | Teachers, coaches, writers |
| Paid 1:1 calls | Members book and pay for a call with you | Experts and coaches |
| Sponsored posts | Brands pay to post in your channel | Channels with a large, active audience |
Paid Telegram group with UPI: step by step
- Create a private Telegram group or channel. Turn on “Approve new members” in the invite link settings.
- On your store, add a paid community product. Set the monthly price and paste your invite link.
- Members subscribe with UPI Autopay or a card. Renewals collect themselves.
- Each new member gets the invite link by email right after paying.
- When someone stops paying, their status shows as ended. Remove them from the group.

Telegram's own subscriptions (Stars)
Since August 2024, Telegram lets channel owners create invite links that charge a monthly fee in Telegram Stars. Members buy Stars in the app. Owners can convert Stars into Toncoin, a cryptocurrency, rather than receiving rupees in a bank account. If your members prefer UPI and you want rupees in your bank, a paid group through your own store is simpler.
What to sell on Telegram
- Study notes and previous-year papers you wrote or solved yourself.
- A weekly plan: meal plans, workout plans, content calendars.
- A short course or recorded workshop.
- 1:1 calls for doubts, reviews or coaching.
